PRINCIPAL Dr.(Ms.) MALINI JOHRI

B.A.(Hons.) M.A., B.Ed., M.Phil, Ph.D.

Dr. (Ms.) Malini Johri assumed office on January15, 2001 as the fifth Principal of Chinai College. Dr. Johri had her early education in Delhi from Queen Marys School, Miranda House and Delhi School of Economics, affiliated to the University of Delhi. She acquired B.Ed. degree from the University of Mumbai before joining the teaching profession.

Prior to joining Chinai College in 1980, as a ‘Lecturer in Geography’, Dr. Johri served at Kirti College, Mumbai in a similar capacity from 1978 to 1980.

During the last two decades of her service in Chinai College she acquired M.Phil degree in Geography (1990) from the University of Mumbai. She was awarded the Ph.D. degree by the University of Mumbai for her thesis on ‘Geography of Air transport in India’ (1995).

An active participant in various national and international conferences, Dr. Johri is “Life member” of several prestigious professional organisations such as National Associations of Geographers (India), Indian Institute of Geographers (India), and Bombay Geographers Association, Mumbai.

Dr. Johri, a designated ‘ Reader in Geography’ (1995) was appointed ‘Vice Principal’ of Chinai College in 1996. She has been instrumental in streamlining the Attendance and Examination systems in the College.

She has authored several books on Environment based on the syllabi of the University of Mumbai.
